About Northern Liberties Auto Repair
Located at 1555 N 5th St, Philadelphia, PA 19122, Northern Liberties Auto Repair operates as an auto repair shop serving Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In Philadelphia, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Pennsylvania vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 amβ4:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Northern Liberties Auto Repair at (215) 763-4206; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, autorepairlocally.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 135 reviews, which is a strong result for an auto repair shop in Philadelphia and suggests consistent service.
Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Fixed a misfire I had on my 1989 Jeep Comanche. Was the only mechanic in the area willing to work on my truck because of its age. Quick turnaround. Very fair price.

My car broke down around the corner and they repaired my old Toyota Camry quickly and at a fair price. I appreciate that they stayed in contact with me throughout the repair process. Thanks so much.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I am hoping this review saves someone from going through what I went through! I dropped my car off for service and oil change. While my car was there, they parked it illegally on the street and it was totaled by a semi truck. The shop owner took zero responsibility. He would not share his insurance information with me. He would not hand over my keys until I paid for all the βservicesβ he did on my TOTALED car. I had to arrange for a tow truck to pick up my car after I paid almost $1,000 to get my keys back. When I had my car evaluated to see if it was worth saving, I was told there was something wrong with my car that did not stem from the accident, but was caused by a faulty repair anyways. I had to get a new used car that was a complete down grade. Absolutely horrible experience that I still get stress nightmares from. There are plenty of car shops in the area PLEASE find a different place. Bottom line- I dropped off a fully functional car and was given a totaled car back, had to pay $1,000 and the shop owner took zero responsibility.

Service was decent but I did wait longer than expected for a basic oil change. They told me 1 hour, it ended up closer to 2. Still, the staff kept checking in and apologized for the delay, which I appreciated. The waiting area had WiFi so I could get some work done. Once finished, they also topped off fluids and checked tire pressure without charging extra. Not perfect timing, but the work itself seems solid and no issues on the drive afterward. I might return because the pricing was reasonable despite the slow turnaround that day.

These guys are the best. Fast, reliable, honest and affordable. I also really appreciate the first-come, first-serve ethos. These guys know what theyβre doing and arenβt going to upsell you on some stuff you donβt need. They get the job done and youβll be on your way. If I have car trouble, i wont be going anywhere else.
